The aged king of Pylos and the oldest surviving hero of Troy, famous for talking at length about it. Telemachus's first stop on his search for news, Nestor gives him perfect hospitality, an account of the Greeks' scattered homecomings, and no hard information about Odysseus — but he also gives him a chariot, a son as travelling companion, and the example of a household that works, which is the education the boy actually needs.
